Gregg “Viz” Visintainer turned his childhood passion for doodling into a celebrated artistic career, collaborating with major brands and inspiring young artists through his Doodling with Viz workshops. His hand-drawn ink creations are a fusion of detail, storytelling, and hidden surprises—each piece taking 60-80 hours to complete.

GREGG “VIZ” VISTINAINER: TRANSFORMING DOODLES INTO INTRICATE MASTERPIECES

Gregg “Viz” Visintainer is a self-taught artist, speaker, and creative visionary known for his intricate pen-and-ink drawings. His signature style, Viz Art Ink, features highly detailed illustrations that reveal hidden images, words, and messages woven into each piece. What appears as a single image from afar transforms up close into a mesmerizing collection of symbols, themes, and storytelling elements.

Viz’s artistic journey began at age 15 when he filled his school notebooks with elaborate doodles instead of notes. After stepping away from art for six years, he rediscovered his passion at 24 while battling personal struggles. His breakthrough piece, Lonely World, took over 250 hours to complete and served as a catalyst for his career. Since then, he has collaborated with brands such as DC Shoes, Disney, Grateful Dead, Falken Tires, and the U.S. Military.

Each of Viz’s pieces takes between 60-80 hours to complete, with some requiring over 100 hours from concept to final detail. His creative process is meticulous and immersive—every drawing is hand-drawn in pen and ink, with layers of hidden messages and images that connect to the overall theme. Inspiration comes from everywhere, but for a piece to truly take shape, it has to resonate deeply with him. With only a few works created each year, every illustration is an intricate journey of storytelling and personal expression.

Beyond his artwork, Viz is passionate about inspiring others through his Doodling with Viz workshops and motivational talks at schools nationwide. He encourages young artists to embrace creativity as an outlet for self-expression and resilience.

The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival holds a special place in Viz’s journey—it was one of the first shows he ever participated in over a decade ago. The festival’s vibrant community, stunning coastal setting, and passionate art supporters make it an event he loves returning to year after year. As the 2025 Featured Artist, he is honored to share his intricate, thought-provoking work with festival goers once again.
